In order to become a WIRES volunteer, you must be at least 18 years of age and have completed the WIRES Rescue and Immediate Care Course. Unfortunately at this time it is not possible to do work experience nor for those under 18 yrs to do voluntary work with WIRES. Once having joined WIRES it is then possible to do an advanced course in order to specialise in and care for specific species. Following are some upcoming RIC Courses and the areas they are to be held. In NSW no person is allowed to care for native animals without an annual authority to act issued under the licence held by WIRES or another licensed wildlife rehabilitation organisation or by a privately licensed individual Scheduled Rescue and Immediate Care Courses We have a Rescue and Immediate Care course scheduled for November 5th/6th November 2011 for those interested in joining.
